Eye Spy 20 - Camera Scavenger Hunt

Every Saturday

Adults or families team up and compete for our sweet heart, on-site scavenger hunt with your camera or phone. Pick up checklist/rules at the park office any time. Pictures must be brought to office with checklist by 4PM Sat. Winners notified by phone to pick up prize on Sat.

Program topics, times, and location are subject to change or be cancelled if there is a special event or inclement weather.

Homeschool in the Park: Bird Bonanza

Join us at the park to discover all about birds. Programs geared towards families who homeschool. Indoor and outdoor investigative bird labs and learning stations on bird basics and adaptations.

Bluebird 101

Join our resident bluebird expert, Lamar Hamrick, as he gives insight to attracting and housing one of our favorite feathered friends.

Georgia’s Arbor Day Celebration

Pick up your free tree seedling and test your tree IQ at the park office. Join staff and special guest presenters for Georgia’s day to honor trees. Bring a picnic lunch or snack to eat between programs.

Join local forester, Davis Tyler along a 1-mile, woodland trail to learn about native trees in our park. Dress for the weather.

BirdFest

In alignment with Callaway Resort and Gardens’ mission of connecting man and nature in a way that benefits both we are excited to announce the first Annual BirdFest February 16th and 17th!

This two-day festival will feature bird walks, nature-based workshops, arts and crafts, live bird shows, kids’ games, guest speakers, and more! Most activities are free with gate admission, and for those individuals wishing for a more intimate bird experience, two private ticketed events will also be offered: an ‘Early Bird Breakfast’ and a ‘Birds and Brews Dinner.’

Kids of all ages can participate in a Gardens’-wide scavenger hunt, take photos with exotic bird species, create a variety of bird-centric arts and crafts, dissect owl pellets, and much, much more. BirdFest promises to be an educational and exciting opportunity to learn more about our feathered friends. We hope to see you there!

Molly Hugger Trail Hike

Meet guides from Pine Mountain Trail Association for a ramble along the ridge from  the meeting location at Molly Hugger Hill parking lot along highway 190 to Fox Den Cove parking lot. There will be a shuttle back. Dress for the weather.

National Tennis Day

You’ll learn about the best plants for Georgia and the Southeast, how to use them in your own garden conditions. Find out how a limb stub can make a tree fall and much more! These seasoned gardeners will give you the nitty gritty of what works and what doesn’t from their experiences, so you won’t be the cause of your garden problems!

Native Azaleas!

The native azaleas of the southeast have been called the most beautiful of our native flowering shrubs. Here’s your chance to learn all about native azaleas and some of the outstanding cultivars now available. These dazzling beauties are great additions to any landscape. You’ll learn from someone who has had years of hands-on experience growing these plants. Ernest is the second-generation owner of a nursery established in 1957 which has become the largest grower of native azaleas in the country.
