The 9,049 acre F.D. Roosevelt State Park is Georgia's largest state park and boasts one of
the best hiking trails in the Southeast. Franklin Roosevelt's Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)
program built many of the park's facilities.
At F.D. Roosevelt State Park, visitors can take advantage of many outdoor activities and experience
a little of the area's history at the same time.
Water lovers will find plenty to do at the park, including year-round fishing and boating on
Lake Delano. For those who love to explore the woods, the park offers both short nature trails
and the 23-mile Pine Mountain Trail for hiking.
Park visitors can easily find the perfect spot for lunch or dinner at one of the many picnic
areas. (FDR's favorite picnic spot was Dowdell's Knob.) Picnic shelters and a large, enclosed
group shelter may be rented in advance.
For a tailor-made camping experience, the camping facilities at F.D. Roosevelt State Park range
from comfortable to primitive. The main camping area has 140 combination tent and trailer sites
with water and electrical hookups. Organized groups can enjoy either the camps adjacent to
Lake Delano or the pioneer camping sites. Those visitors who do not want to rough it can make
reservations for one or two-bedroom cottages with fireplaces, picnic tables and grills.
